Nurturing Marriages, Enriching Families!
This project proposes the establishment of a regional Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) bottle recycling business across four strategic West African markets—Nigeria, Ghana, Senegal, and Ivory Coast. The initiative is designed to address the growing environmental challenge posed by plastic waste, while simultaneously creating a commercially viable, scalable, and impact-driven recycling enterprise aligned with circular economy principles. PET bottles are among the most widely used plastic packaging materials in West Africa, driven by rapid urbanization, population growth, increased consumption of bottled beverages, and limited access to potable water. However, waste collection and recycling infrastructure across the region remains underdeveloped, resulting in widespread plastic pollution, clogged drainage systems, flooding, marine degradation, and public health risks. This project seeks to convert this environmental liability into economic value by establishing collection, processing, and recycling systems that transform post-consumer PET waste into reusable raw materials such as PET flakes and recycled PET (rPET) pellets, which can be supplied to packaging manufacturers, textile producers, and export markets.
